PV Cable Gland / Waterproof Connector
Overview
PV cable glands (waterproof connectors) seal and secure cables where they enter junction boxes, combiner boxes, inverters and distribution cabinets in solar installations. A compression seal grips the cable jacket to give reliable waterproofing, dust protection, pull-out resistance and strain relief. Made from UV-resistant reinforced nylon or nickel-plated brass, they withstand sunlight, temperature swings, rain and salt mist, with protection up to IP68. Available in metric M12–M32, PG7–PG29 and NPT threads to fit a wide range of PV and power cable diameters. Backed by China’s mature hardware and injection molding supply chain, we offer ready stock, OEM colors and packaging, and bulk export for installers, equipment manufacturers and EPC contractors.

IP68 High-Level Protection
The sealing ring and body thread fit tightly to keep rain, dust and moisture out of junction boxes, ensuring stable long-term outdoor operation.
Weather and Aging Resistant Material
UV-stabilized reinforced nylon or nickel-plated brass resists brittleness, cracking and deformation under strong sunlight and temperature cycling.
Reliable Pull-Out Resistance and Strain Relief
The clamping claws hold the cable jacket firmly, reducing stress on internal terminals when the cable is pulled.
Wide Cable Diameter Range
One size fits several cable outer diameters, reducing the number of SKUs to stock and lowering inventory and purchasing costs.
Quick Installation Without Special Tools
Simply thread the gland in and tighten the nut with a wrench; installation on site is fast with minimal rework.
Corrosion and Salt-Mist Resistance
Suited to coastal, high-humidity and agricultural PV sites where corrosion is a concern, delivering long service life.
Multiple Colors and Sizes
Black and gray as standard, with OEM colors, logos and packaging available to meet private-label needs.

PV Cable Gland / Waterproof Connector - Material & Sealing Structure
Available with a body of weather-resistant nylon or nickel-plated brass, paired with NBR, silicone or EPDM sealing rings. A compression-type seal grips the full circumference of the cable jacket, while an O-ring adds a secondary seal at the mounting hole. This combination keeps waterproofing and dust protection stable over the long term, even under strong UV, wide temperature swings and salt mist.
Body Material Options
Nylon is lightweight, cost-effective and electrically insulating, ideal for high-volume PV junction and combiner boxes; nickel-plated brass offers higher strength and heat conduction for inverters and industrial cabinets.
Seal Ring Materials
NBR offers good value, silicone handles temperature extremes, and EPDM resists weather and ozone; choose according to site conditions.
Thread Type and Sealing Method
Metric, PG and NPT threads available, with an O-ring or flat washer providing a secondary seal at the mounting hole.
Clamping Structure
Segmented claws and a compression cap apply even pressure to cables of different diameters without damaging the jacket.
Surface Treatment
Brass types are nickel-plated for rust protection and appearance; nylon types have a matte finish with evenly dispersed UV stabilizers.
PV Cable Gland / Waterproof Connector - Applications
PV Junction Boxes
Cable entries on module junction boxes and combiner boxes, keeping rain and dust out.
PV Inverters
Sealing and securing DC and AC side cables on string inverters.
Distribution and Energy Storage Cabinets

General Industrial Equipment
Also used in wind power, EV chargers, street lighting, surveillance equipment and machine control boxes.
PV Cable Gland / Waterproof Connector - Selection & Ordering
Select by Cable Diameter
Measure the cable’s outer diameter first and choose a gland whose clamping range covers it, avoiding leaks from loose fit or cable damage from over-tightening.
Select by Hole and Thread
Confirm the enclosure hole size and thread type (M, PG or NPT), and leave enough room for the lock nut.
Select Material by Environment
For coastal, high-temperature or high-UV sites, choose weather-resistant nylon or nickel-plated brass with silicone or EPDM seals.

PV Cable Gland / Waterproof Connector - FAQ
Can different sizes be mixed in one shipment?
Yes. Mixed sizes and colors are supported, packed in separately labeled bags for easy sorting and resale.
What is the lead time?
Standard sizes ship in 3–7 days from stock, and custom orders usually take 15–25 days, depending on quantity and customization.
What is the MOQ, and can I get samples first?
MOQ on standard sizes is flexible, and samples and small trial orders are supported. Sample and shipping costs can be discussed and credited toward formal orders.
Do you support custom colors, logos and packaging?
Yes. Black, gray, white and other colors are available, along with logo printing and branded packaging. Contact us to confirm MOQ.
Can it achieve IP68, and what should I watch for during installation?
Yes, when the correct cable range is chosen, the cap is tightened fully and the washer or O-ring is seated at the mounting hole. The cable jacket should be smooth and undamaged.
Which is better, nylon or brass?
Nylon is cheaper, lighter and insulating, suiting most junction and combiner boxes; brass is stronger and better for inverters, cabinets and locations needing higher pull strength.
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the cable outer diameter and the enclosure hole, then pick a model whose clamping range covers the cable and whose thread matches the hole. If unsure, send photos of your cable and device and we will help.
What is the difference between a PV cable gland and a standard waterproof gland?
PV sites involve long-term outdoor exposure, so UV, temperature and salt-mist resistance matter more. We use weather-resistant body and seal materials suited to solar equipment.
